This is my 20th year of teaching art. I teach 230 students at Port Royal Elementary in PK through 5th grade. In the second year of teaching in SC about 15 years ago, I was invited to a Department of SC Ed summer training school for teachers. After 2 classes, I was invited to a class with a free computer and software to teach students art. I have been integrating art and technology since. This is my last class in a Master's in Ed Tech. I've loved the new teaching and new ways to involve students in learning.
I have been married 27 years. I grew up in Ohio and married my husband from Pittsburgh. After 5 years in Cleveland, OH, and 5 years in Meadville, PA, we moved to SC for teaching and planning jobs that was in 1999. We have two sons, 18 and 15, and a 7-year-old daughter. Life is really moving fast right now!

ReplyDeleteI am from SC too! I think it is so amazing when I meet someone from SC too. I haven't heard of Port Royal, but I am in a very very small town. I will have to look up PRE to see where that is. I love art. I was in the focus program all through school. I now work with the art teacher that I had in elementary school and he tells me almost every day that he wishes I would have went to school to be an art teacher. Honestly, I didn't know what school to attend to get a degree in art so I went for elem edu and now I get to integrate art into the classroom all the time :)
